William Wordsworth was born on 7th April, 1770, at Cockermouth in Cumberland, England. He grew up in the beautiful Lake District that was later to provide inspiration for much of his poetry and philosophy. His best known poem is probably "I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud:" I wandered lonely as a cloud That floats on high o'er vales and hills When all at once I saw a crowd A host, of golden daffodils Beside the lake, beneath the trees Fluttering and dancing in the breeze On 23rd April, 1850, at the age of 80, William died.
